Many months ago my bank advised that thousands of MasterCard, and other, ATM card numbers had been compromised by unknown hackers. The creeps making these calls have apparently gained access to that stolen data. However, the information they have is useless unless you give them additional data. Data such as the card’s expiration date, the security ID number or, probably worst of all, your ATM PIN.
Do not fall for the scam(s). If the deal or offer is too good to be true, you can be sure it’s not true! It’s just a clever scam to harvest your personal data. They already have card number, name & phone number. Don’t give them any more than they already have.
Same as all the rest... Wal-Mart gift card, knew my name, knew my credit card, called me on my brand new unlisted phone number. Here's the twist... only Bank of America knew all of this information. It turns out that when Bank of America takes over an account from another bank, they change all privacy settings to a full "opt-in" and they sell it like heck.
calls come from this number as well as 616-980-2382, 231-224-2009, and 000-000-0000 at all hours day & night on my home phone, cell, & work
When I have answered I have gotten dead air most of the time. Other times I get some dumb butt hole who says DO Not Call Registry does not apply to them.
I have filed a complaint with FCC, Attorney General of Michigan and Tennessee, Consumer Affairs, and consumercompalintagency.org.
I have requested a class action suite against the company connected with these numbers, their employees, and any companies I have done legitimate business with who have sold my info to this company & other telemarketers.
I plan to send a fax to each of these agencies each time I get a call from these numbers.
That should get there attention.
I really want this guy to stop calling me. i've been on the road looking at schools, and have had to pull my phone out of my pocket more than 40 times in the past week just to see this number calling me. i had to choose the block all unknown numbers option on my phone so i would stop having my battery wasted.
I got 2 calls in one day from this number: 231-732-2641. I knew not to answer because I did not recognize the number. I tried to call back and got a fast busy signal. If I get hold of someone there, I will tell them I am reporting them to the authorities. I am sure this is a scam.
