Many months ago my bank advised that thousands of MasterCard, and other, ATM card numbers had been compromised by unknown hackers. The creeps making these calls have apparently gained access to that stolen data. However, the information they have is useless unless you give them additional data. Data such as the card’s expiration date, the security ID number or, probably worst of all, your ATM PIN.
Do not fall for the scam(s). If the deal or offer is too good to be true, you can be sure it’s not true! It’s just a clever scam to harvest your personal data. They already have card number, name & phone number. Don’t give them any more than they already have.
Got a call from this number. Thanked me for using their Visa card and wanted to give me an offer. I do not have a credit card so I told them to not call me anymore. When I called the number back, reached a voice mail that said I had reached the marketing department.
I have answered several more of these phone calls and told them to specifically take my name and number off their list. I am still receiving calls. If you have your phone number on the National Do Not Call list for more than 31 days and they still call you, file a complaint at the National Do Not Call list website. If everyone reports them, the law will go after them.
Heavy hindi accented woman ask for "my first name" to which I said what do you want, she proceeded to the hook " as a valued Visa user with card #" last four digits, to which I interrupted and asked who she was with and how she got the numbers. She said she was with a telemarketing group doing "customer service" for another company... I interrupted her again and said who is it that gave you my numbers phone and visa? She said it was a customer satisfaction call.. I interrupted and asked again, to which she avoided the answer. I told her I wanted to speak to her supervisor and to find out who gave her my information... she danced around the answer and begged me to just accept the gift. I interrupted her and told her she was not authorized to call me and that I would report them as a scam. She became solemnly tried to explain how this wasn't a scam.
IT IS A SCAM. THEY WILL NOT TELL YOU WHERE THEY GET YOUR NAME, PHONE and CC NUMBER. THEY WILL TRY TO SEND YOU SOME SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE THAT REQUIRES YOU CONFIRMING THE EXPIRATION DATE ON YOUR CARD AND YOUR FULL NAME AND ADDRESS. DO NOT GIVE IN.
ONE DAY SOMEONE WILL DO SOME WET WORK ON THESE FOLKS FROM THE TOP OF THEIR FOOD CHAIN ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM.
LET IT RAIN.....
THIS IS A SCAM. The only information they have IS the last four digits of your card. I don't know how or why, but they are fishing and are trying to get the rest of your credit card information. DON'T DO IT. The "free" $25 gift card will cost you much much more. I spoke to a supervisor (again, thick Hindi accent) who stated they were based in New York, New York in spite of having a Michigan area code on caller ID. He said the name of the company is "Today's Escape". See report on this company below-
Got a call today on my work phone. Told me for being a good customer with my MC I was going to receive a $25 Walmart gift card. The guy said the last 3 numbers on my debit card to get me to confirm it was correct. Didn't try to confirm my address to "mail" me my gift card. Say good bye and hung up. Called my bank immediately to report it. Canceled my MC debit card. PLEASE BEWARE! Called the number back. Got a recording from an unidentified Marketing Company.
