Many months ago my bank advised that thousands of MasterCard, and other, ATM card numbers had been compromised by unknown hackers. The creeps making these calls have apparently gained access to that stolen data. However, the information they have is useless unless you give them additional data. Data such as the card’s expiration date, the security ID number or, probably worst of all, your ATM PIN.
Do not fall for the scam(s). If the deal or offer is too good to be true, you can be sure it’s not true! It’s just a clever scam to harvest your personal data. They already have card number, name & phone number. Don’t give them any more than they already have.
They called me today and had the last four of my VISA debit card. I told them no and he got huffy with me. I called my bank and reported it. She took their name and number and cancelled my card. What a pain to cancel and have to wait on a new card because someone gave them my info. My phone number isn't listed, so I am going to find out who did this. I don't use the card that much, so it won't be hard. I started reading the privacy policies of the last few companies I have used it and most say they don't share info.
My bank is trying to contact them and is turning it over to their legal department, because they did act like they were from the bank. She has called them, but only gets a machine. I am trying to find the correct website so I can call them and get an address. I have two siblings who are attorneys, they are going to get letters from me.
I just read the messages again, I ordered Snuggies too, it had to be that company. Thanks for posting that, I am going to have my sister contact their legal department.
If you ordered Snuggies, that is where they got your name. I have spent hours and finally figured mine out. I called Snuggies and they insist they didn't share the info or I said yes to something when I placed the order. I am furious, going to take this all the way to the top.
Called twice in same day. First time was around 11:30am EDT, the second was at 4:38PM on Sunday March 29th. Identified himself as Billy (had a foreign accent)He gave me the last four digits of A Master Card which he said was mine and proceeded to tell me I was to receive a $25 Walmart Gift Certificate for being a good card user. On the second call,it was a$50 gift card but the same Card Number. I dont have a card with that number. When I asked where he would send my gift card to, he hung up..I gave him NO information about myself. I did tell him he would be reported.
