same damned thing happened to me... said the secretary made a mistake and still wanted me to cash it. has anyone turned them in? they just inquired bout my saddle and i said only cash cuz ppl have tried to scam me.. i didnt get a response. guess that answered my question!
How do they plan to get the saddle from your home to theirs?
There are a lot of scammers running around. They buy stuff from far away, paying by fake checks that bounce or fake Paypal deposits. The payment usually is larger than the cost of the stuff, with you sending the excess to a shipping firm. You wire the shipping fee to the shipper. The buyer's payment fails, the buyer and shipper vanish, and you are out the shipping fee plus whatever your bank charges for depositing a bad check.
Anohter variation, you ship the item. The buyer's check bounces. You no longer have the item to sell and you are out whatever you paid to ship the item.
They text to hide the fact that they speak with a strong foreign accent.
Ignore the scammer. Sell your sadle for cash to someone who will meet you in a near by parking lot to make the purchase.
i got this same call. they wanted my name and address to send a check. I HAD ONLY SENT PHOTOS TO ONE PERSON AND I ASK IF THAT WAS THEM. THEY SAID YES BUT NUMBERS DIDN'T MATCH.GLAD I GAVE THEM NO INFO
