same damned thing happened to me... said the secretary made a mistake and still wanted me to cash it. has anyone turned them in? they just inquired bout my saddle and i said only cash cuz ppl have tried to scam me.. i didnt get a response. guess that answered my question!
I actually thought this person was legit. I gave them my name and address. Than I got a message saying payment was on its way via mail and a text saying the check was 2,000 more than what I was asking for it. I am waiting til I get something in the mail and reporting it to local police.
They will send you a fake check or money order, and it will usually arrive via a hijacked FedEx or Priorioty Mail account. DO NOT cash the check; it is fraudulent, and the bank will hold you accountable. Unfortunately, I work far too many of these scams, and have seen many people duped and left holding the bag. The scammers will try to get you to send money to a third party; a "mule," usually another person they conned into picking up the wired funds. These third-party mules may or may not know they are conducting illegal activity. Sometimes they have answered an ad for employment and think they are just doing a job. I would suggest shredding anything that comes to your door from these people. Or you can turn it in to your local police agency. Or, if you're really wanting to be proactive, you can get the information as to who they want you to send the money to, then at the time they are supposed to pick it up, call the local police who have jurisdiction over that pick-up location and have them go check out that person out.
I also got a check from this person for about 2k more than the price of my saddle. Took it to the bank, and they looked at it and recommended I do not cash it. I texted this person back and they never responded again. It is a SCAM. I wonder if "tattoo fighwear" is aware that the person is using their businesses name or if they are connected?

I just received a check yesterday from Tattoo Fightwear for my saddle of an asking price $1500 and the check was made for $3550. The person said his secretary made a terrible mistake and wanted me to send the remaining amount after my saddle to Picker via MoneyGram. The check looks fake, so I contacted both Integrity Bank and Tattoo Fightwear to alert both of them. As well as Horse Clicks because that was where I had my saddle advertised. They are contacting from the # (234) 206-0085
