same damned thing happened to me... said the secretary made a mistake and still wanted me to cash it. has anyone turned them in? they just inquired bout my saddle and i said only cash cuz ppl have tried to scam me.. i didnt get a response. guess that answered my question!
So glad I checked into this! I got a text from this phone number just this morning: "Saddle, I'm interested. whats the final price and would you accept a check"... I definitely will NOT be cashing any check from these wretched people! Thanks to everyone else who posted! You saved me and probably many others from falling prey to this scam!
If you get a text or an email from these people, don't answer them. This is a big time scam. I work these calls every day. I received a text myself for a saddle I was selling. The (234) area code is out of Jamaica not Ohio. Anyone in law enforcement is aware of all the Jamaician scams going on here in the U.S. If you try to cash this check, your bank will hold you accountable for all your overdrawn transactions once it comes back as fake. Save yourself the headache and ignore them.
I got a text message last night on a horse that I'm selling on ksl.com. They asked only a few questions about the horse and asked for my name and address and whether I'd like a check or money order. I said money order, thinking it'd be safer, but after reading these posts, I realize it's not. Thank goodness I did a reverse-lookup on their number before I gave any personal information, and came up with all of these scam alert posts! I am not texting them back, but am going to make a post on ksl.com about the scam because people need to know about this!
Recieved a text from someone at this number calling himself 'John", said he would send a money order and then contact me once it cleared to arrange shipping. I am not going to text him back and will be blocking the number.
