Basic story, there is a 7,000 dollar grant waiting for me because I have been randomly chosen out of 15,000 cell phone numbers. He says he is calling from Washington DC. His area code says he is from Ohio or something. He says he is representing the "US Government Dollar Grants" and when he tried to direct me to a website it didn't work.
He knew my address, name, etc. etc. He asked for my birth date which I gave him. Afterwards, he tried getting my checking account number at which point I called him out. He seems to have a script because all he did was say back what he had said a few moments earlier.
In conclusion, this is a scam. Don't bother, don't waste your time, don't give out your info.
It's some shady company from India, they are using fake numbers from an application that you can get online. They are trying to sell auto loans, but they are scammers. I can't get them to stop calling me. Normally they use a +sign before the number.
