I just got the same call from the number 239-247-5552, saying they were from Microtech Support and my computer had downloaded something and they needed to fix it. I told the guys computers do not get a virus and randomly send a message to a company to fix. I got his number and did a reverse search on the number and it says it came from a land line in Fort Myers FL. How do I report this?
I got a call from jeff Scott w/Microtec Saturday 11-29-13 at 3:30 PM asking if I had been having trouble with my computer running slow. I could not fully understand what he was saying so I got his name & number.
Trouble in my computer was running slow for no reason. ran a virus check and had none. Got an email from Life Lock saying all clear.
Got a call at home telling me that my computer was reporting a virus and he was from Micro Tech and could fix it for me. I was suspicious and got his phone number and said I would have my office IT person call him.
Guy with indian accent called from Microtec Support (239-247-55522; 1-855-210-3300) named Jack Daniels said my computer was sending error message indicating that someone was downloading malware on my computer. He was not trying to sell me anything just wanted to advise that I should go to Best Buy Geek Squad or something to get computer checked out. He asked me to confirm my name--which I did not and he asked to confirm what state i lived in---which I did not. He claimed to have gotten my information fro and "interface in the public domain." i asked to speak to his supervisor who also had an Indian accent and was named Jacob Jones. I asked if they were in Mumbai and he said no, Houston Texas. This all happened on the heals of getting a friend request on Facebook from an already existing friend---but I accepted anyways and then shortly thereafter starting getting a chat asking if I had gotten the good news about getting $100,000 through Facebook. I immediately defriended the person but wondering if there is a connection to the Microtec phone call i received seconds later.
