Received the same call which wanted my computer to be turned on. So I went along with the scam and then blasted a very fowl langauge assault.
The party hung up, they keep call 3 so far today. The priblem is, I don't have a house computer. :)
Caller claimed to be from the "Technical Support Department", at Windows. He forgot to say "Microsoft" <ha>. Caller ID returned only "Florida". Clear scam, likely they want you to give them control of your computer so they can "fix" it (while inserting malware and/or spyware, of course). Or to get your credit card info to charge you for said fix, then just running up other charges on it. If I had been in a better mood, I might have had some fun with the guy. Maybe spin up a Linux virtual machine, let him connect to that...and then enjoy the consternation as he tries to figure it out, and act all confused myself .
They called again a couple of minutes after I hung up the first time.
This morning I also got a call from 239-793-2144. He had a very heavy Indian accent and stated that he was from Microsoft. Very aggressive and very rude. Tried to get me to go into my "Doss" to enter more information and I refused. If anyone finds that he is in the united states PlEASE get back with me, I promise that I will drive to his place of employment. I wont kill him but he will have serious injuries
