Solicitation call wanting money to upgrade police training. I was asked if security threats are worse today then in years past. I answered not necessarily. She told me (without missing a beat) that with my donation, police training could be improved.
Told her I was uninterested and she launched into a second subject about child abductions and how a donation there would be helpful. I asked about the amber alert system already in place but she just kept on talking.
I put the line and hold and let her roll on. She clearly wasn't listening to a word I said anyway.

said were asking for donation for police trainning...I called the police deptto ask if they knew anything....they said it was just a telemarketing call but didnt know anything.
A guy in a monotone voice reads me a message stating that they are collecting money for an Amber-Alert-type system where the org. distributes fingerprints of children or something. He asks "don't you agree that one child missing is one child to many?" I reply "Um...yes." After his spiel he asked me if I could make a donation. I said that since my wife just had a baby, I could only afford to donate $10. He replied "Well, the lowest amount we ask for is $20." WTF is this, I'm not pledging to keep public TV on the air I'm trying to donate to save kids...whatever. Anyways, I asked the first person I talked to if I could receive a mail-in donation form. He says "yes," then hands me over to his supervisor, who immediately demands my credit card information and asks if I am comfortable with a $20 donation. No, I'm really not, but I guess you are too good for anything less than that. I asked the supervisor for a mail-in form, and he said that he couldn't because the org. doesn't want to deal with shipping costs, etc. I told him that I wasn't going to give my credit card information over the phone. He verified my mailing address, then hung up. So rude...I looked at the MD Chiefs of Police Association website, and nothing there mentions any sort of fundraiser except the Law Enforcement Museum fund. I tried to call the Chiefs of Police number, but the machine said they were out until March 9th. I will be calling back to report this abuse, mistreatment, and, I believe, fraudulent use of their name.
These people call my phone nearly everyday. When I decided to pick it up, I was asked to donate money money into a fund meant for the protection of kids. I asked the caller to give me sometime to think about it and to even check it up. He was trying to ensure that I pay my contribution that day through my card which I refused. The police departments should do something about these organized "rouges."
I've received many calls from this number. I called 1-800-379-5694 and selected #5 on the menu to have my number added to their DO NOT CALL list. I hope it worked.
got a call from MD COP - Didn't get to the phone in time and about had a heart attack with a call from what I assumed was a Chief of Police - I have a 16 yr old out driving for krying out loud. Looked this up on google to see a SCAM - Thanks for the INFO!!!!
