Solicitation call wanting money to upgrade police training. I was asked if security threats are worse today then in years past. I answered not necessarily. She told me (without missing a beat) that with my donation, police training could be improved.
Told her I was uninterested and she launched into a second subject about child abductions and how a donation there would be helpful. I asked about the amber alert system already in place but she just kept on talking.
I put the line and hold and let her roll on. She clearly wasn't listening to a word I said anyway.
I've received at least 4 calls from 240 560 2625 and my phone reads "MD Cop." one time a lady call and requested for $50 for donation in field of kidnapping, again ToNIGHT(04.JAN.2010)when I answered a man said I call from MD Chiefs of Police for Children, and said the other things about kidnapping and ....
I also have been getting the calls where there is just silence on the line from this number. This morning, a representative was on the line and gave me a bunch of BS about their organization giving money to assist police in investigations. I let her go on for a few minutes I figure that is a good way to waste their time so they don't scam someone else. The rep was a good liar because she didn't miss a beat every time I challenged her with a question.
We should see how long we can keep these reps on the line :)

I wish everybody had the same common sense you have the more i read these complaints the more I'am convince that this is a scam. The person I spoke to was nerves when I ask who it was with a firm voice.
Person said they were collecting money for materials in the missing child program (i.e., brochure, materials, etc.). He proceeded to say, "I think you can agree with me that one missing child is one missing child too many." My husband told him to send an envelope in the mail for us to consider, since we'd never give out credit card info over the phone; person said they are a non-profit, so unless they have a firm commitment (i.e., know the amount we are going to donate), they cannot said anything in the mail.
