Solicitation call wanting money to upgrade police training. I was asked if security threats are worse today then in years past. I answered not necessarily. She told me (without missing a beat) that with my donation, police training could be improved.
Told her I was uninterested and she launched into a second subject about child abductions and how a donation there would be helpful. I asked about the amber alert system already in place but she just kept on talking.
I put the line and hold and let her roll on. She clearly wasn't listening to a word I said anyway.

Caller ID showed: MD COP. When I answered it there was just silence. I've had several of these calls in the past 2 months. I called the number back and got a recording saying it was American Chief of Police Association. After listening to their message I was able to chose to opt out of receiving these calls by pressing #5, which I did.
Just as everyone else is reporting...I've received multiple calls to my home office line where there's silence or static when I answer. Then a telemarketing rep comes on to ask for donations. They have a hard time taking 'no' for an answer, which is ok - it's their job to sell prospects on the need to improve police training in an effort to solicit donations. But my issue is that this alleged non-profit telemarketing firm hired by the MD Police Association is using a predictive dialer that is set incorrectly. A live person should be on the phone before someone picks up the call. A person should never get a call and be greeted with silence or a recording...the FCC regulates these companies and predictive dialers are illegal when used in this manner. I plan to lodge a formal complaint with the FCC....right after I put my new office # on the DNC list.
