This phone number is a SCAM. I got a call from a FAKE IRS person
saying I was in danger of going to prison because of tax fraud. I was
told to call this 240 number to "settle the account." I called the operator at CenturyLink he confirmed the number to be bad. The number came in as 740-555-0158 and then says to call 240-232-2197. The operator also said if a number comes up as a 555 number it is FAKE, do not call.
Just got a call from 412-555-0128 I did not recognize the number so I let it go to VM. When I reviewed the voice message it stated that I was in danger of going to prison because of tax fraud. I was told to call this 240-232-2197 number to "settle the account." So I logged onto this site to see if others had gotten such a call. I discovered others had recently been called.

I receibed a call.with the caller id of 403 555 0127 she said she was from the US Treasury service if I did not respond to this call it would be an admission of guilt and that I would be arrested. The number that she gave me to call back was 240 232 2197 she gave me a badge number of 4165 obviously I did not call back.
Same as everyone else. Doesn't even say IRS...treasury dept and that "you have tax fraud against you". Caller ID came up as directory assistance in Puerto Rico. Same "badge #". 4165. I feel sorry for older people that could possibly believe this.
