Just got the same call from 662-555-0151, called the 240-232-2197 and was told I would be arrested tomorrow morning, that I better call a lawyer now, that I was going to jail for years because I did not reply to an IRS notice sent 3 weeks ago (which of course I never received). I told him I did not owe any taxes, and got a refund last year he said that's what everyone says. He then told be I owed $1100 from an assessment audit of the last 9 year's returns, and that I needed to pay $2000 by tonight to stay out of jail.
Rec'd a VM from the US Treasury (ha ha what a joke) 7:15 this evening. The recording stated a badge # of 4165 and that I needed to call 240-232-2197 immediately because a tax fraud has been filed against me. If I didn't respond immediately, I would be arrested. Of course I know this is a scam but wanted to toy with them and called the number several times, however, it wouldn't go through. People, please understand the IRS or the US Treasury would NEVER place a call like this, it's nothing but a scam. I feel sorry for the elderly who may fall for this.
