Called Friday so I answered and played along. Said he was calling from the IRS and they were giving me chance to resolve issue before filing lawsuit. Strong accent and he could barely follow his script. Said their investigation found I had willfully filed incorrect returns for last 5 years. I asked if he needed my checking account, all my credit card numbers and date of birth to get this resolved. I don’t think he understood sarcasm and said no I needed to wire $5390 to some account. Told him that I would have my husband who works for the FBI ask his friend who works at the IRS about this issue. Didn’t think to tell him the amount he is quoting was about half of what we really owe. I would have taken them up on the offer if it was legit. They called me again today from different number.
