Received the same voicemail message from 2 different phone numbers (240) 436-2041 and (240) 345-1622 2 hours apart asking me to call Pete at (240) 436-2041. I have blocked many different numbers from Maryland claiming to be the IRS and I keep getting the same message from a different number. I don't call back.
Got a call from this number, left a message on my answering machine, saying they were from the IRS and that this was my last chance to avoid going to jail. I called the number back and a man with really bad English answered "IRS." He told me that I had willfully filed fraudulent tax returns for 3 years and owed $7,358.22. Yeah, right. That's not even close to what I pay in one year, let alone 3 years. Plus, the IRS rounds off the amount to a whole dollar amount. There are no decimal places. I already knew this was a scam, but I played along. I asked him what would happen if I didn't pay and he said I would go to jail. I said, "Bring it, I'll be home all day, and I'm currently barricaded waiting for all comers with two AR-15's and a shotgun, loaded and ready." He hung up and I blocked the number.
Got message saying IRS was filing suit against me. Message didnt give full number to call back. It started 320-362...then tape with male voice on it was garbled and unable to tell what it was saying
