I work for the IRA, this is pure BS. First of all the IRS is not going to call you to tell you they are going to file a lawsuit. That is their court of last resort. The IRA will work with anyone who owes them back taxes as long as you do not try to avoid them. If you happen to answer this call tell the person you work for the IRS and are recording the call. See how quickly they hang up on you!!!
This call came to my elderly mother (happened last year, also), after the call in, I checked caller ID. She does not see too well. Call came from Catonsville, MD a 11:24am on November 5 2015. This is the IRS and you are going to jail. Thankfully, she was listening to me last year and HUNG UP.
Got a call from same number. They said they were the IRS and that in 2010 I willfully and maliciously filed a return that was meant to defraud the IRS out of 1,187.00. They told me my call was being recorded and they were going to take me to court and if I lost in court, I would owe them 46,000.00 and they would freeze my bank account and take my house and car to satisfy their judgement. When I started to question them about how 1187.00 would become 46,000.00, they hung up on me. Sounded Indian and very difficult to un derstand. If you call them back, they answer their phone and say IRS and I said to them your not the IRS your a scam and they immediately hung up.
