I had a message on my recorder that I was to call this number immediately and it said that they were the criminal investigation department of the IRS and I'm being sued by the IRS to call immediately.
I received the same message to call 1-253-292-2555. I returned the call and spoke to two people with VERY thick foreign accents and very american names. One was 'officer' Jenny Peters' with an identification number of ACE29 and the other was her 'supervisor' Michael Jones whose identification number was NP2658. I thought this was a fishy call when 'Jenny' stated that there was a miscalculation in my taxes and actually gave me an amount that I owed......then she asked me, and I quote, "what you did this was done intentionally... intentionally to fraudulate?". I then said that I could not understand her due to her heavy accent whereabouts she transferred me to her 'supervisor'. When I was asked by 'Michael' what my cell phone number was and I said that I had no cell phone, he began to raise his voice, and then told me to call him back on Monday morning. When I asked him what his number was, he said "on his cell phone"; I said that I did not have his cell phone number and that I would need his number so that I could call him back. 'Michael' promptly hung up.
I received the same threatening call (law suit and arrest warrant), and returned the call to 253-292-2555. The same "Jenny Peters" answered with the same supervisor Michael Jones. Both had heavy accents. Jenny said she was calling from Washington DC. When I asked what country "MIchael" was calling from, he hung up. Obviously a scam.
I got the exact same call yesterday and the voicemail said the same thing. I called back the # that was left on the voicemail, but I got a message with a lady on it with an accent. I left a short message expressing confusion and then thought I'd google the number to see where it was going. If I get a call back tomorrow I will definitely be letting them know I already reported them and know they are a scam. Weird timing because I just did my 2013 taxes on FreeTaxUSA on Friday...? I've never gotten a call like that.
