We have great credit, thankfully, but somehow my cell number became the target for collecting on a student loan. There were tons of calls (I never answered thanks to these websites) and then peace until today this number showed up. So not sure how my number got on their lists, I haven't had a student loan since 1983, and it was paid up long ago. Bless you all for reporting on these numbers.
I got a call from 267-407-0100 today. They wanted to talk to my husband and said they were calling about a past girlfriend of his 14 years ago.
If there a collection angency how would they know 14 years ago whom my husband had dated? Soff card maybe?
I was getting calls from them about a bill i did owe on and so i attempted to work something out with them they got really ugly with calling me a loser and reminding me how it was my fault my bill was late. These idiots don't know what hell i went thru for being jobless for almost 2 years when my company laid off 200 people but i was the better person and set up a payment plan but now they are saying they are receiving the payment even tho my bank shows a reference # for the payments to them. They still say I owe the full amount. I am not sure what I am to do. My bank isn't very helpful saying it an issue with tate /kirlin and tate / kirlin aren't very helpful either and get very rude when you try to talk with them. Any help would be appreciated
Contact your Consumer Protection Agency. I don't know if this is the number for all states but I called 800-300-1986 for complete satisfaction results. You can also contact your Attorney General (not the State's Attorney).
I answered the phone and a recorded message said to hold the line for an important call. Then I could hear a lot of switchboard noise in the background. It sounded as if someone got on the line so I said "Hello" 2-3 times. They didn't say anything and hung up. I'm glad I read the other comments here. From now on, I will let the answering machine pick up.
