Continued getting calls from "Burke" multiple times a week. I finally answered today and they were conducting research. Said it'll be quick so I answered some questions. When they started asking about my household income, I didn't feel comfortable continuing so I just told them to take me off their list.
DNC will not prevent callers who are trying to collect a debt no matter how annoying or nefarious. Neither will it prevent scammers or criminals as has been noted. These people could be calling from prison which has been used more and more as a call center sales and collections hub. You could be dealing with a murderer or rapist.
BUT! when you report numbers to the DNC, it tracks the number of times a number is reported and will investigate numbers that appear IN THEIR records frequently. So reporting is effective however slow they are to act. Republicans so wrote the bill so that nobody APPEARING to be doing legitimate business on the phone would be "discriminated" against. It is time for the law to be overhauled.
There are some cable companies that have a phone application that will select the last number calling you to be blocked. The calling party will receive a message stating that their number has been blocked. Just a temporary fix, but it has significantly reduced my annoying calls.
