I live in IL. I received a call from this number in MI about Home Security Systems, obviously I did not tell them to not call me under option 2 (it seldom works), so..., option 1 rewards me with a lady who identifies herself as "Abby", when I pressed for more information as to how they got my number, she says that her company uses many "satellite offices to make calls" and that they are located in "Washington State" After trying to continue the questions, she said that her position is as a "call screener" and that I would have to answer 3 questions in order to be transferred to an actual sales rep or company employee. After the first question (Was I an actual home owner?) I am indeed. She declared that I "was being very sarcastic" and then promptly hung up. I will be looking forward to our next call. The car warranty scammers called me so often, that all I had to do was answer they would recognize my voice, and hang up.
same as others:
"this is not a sales call... referred by [a friend]" for home security system.
They called my work number (a land line, not a cell phone) - I have to answer b/c I am in customer service and clients call from any number they happen to be using at the time they need to reach me. I cannot screen the calls that come in on this line.
I went ahead and pressed "1" to have some fun - girl came on the line and I immediately asked who had referred me. She said she was just a rep and the person my call was forwarded to, so she couldn't tell. I said that they had called me and stated I was referred and therefore I wanted to know by whom and if she couldn't tell me, then who could I speak with that would be able to do so? She started to repeat her first statement and I cut her off saying "we all know that's [***]; this IS a sales call because it came in on my work number and nobody would have given that out as a means to reach me." She said that she was happy for me that I have enough spare time to get into this with her and "have a nice day" then she hung up on me.
Sometimes you just have to play with them - if I hadn't answered, they'd end up getting my voicemail after just 3 rings, which also proves it's a valid telephone number anyway.
I'll do it again if it happens again when I feel like venting my frustration with their BS line about it not being a sales call.
ID as 1-269-477-2201 "This is not a sales call" and then within 2-seconds she started selling a home security system.
Must be the latest gimick They have all the tricks.
this # just called my cell, did not answer. I think my # has been sold to dozens of these scammers since I switched from U.S. Cellular (that was purchased by Sprint) to TracPhone for pay-as-you-go.
