I actually had the same problem, I was so out of it that I confirmed the zip code. I've cancelled my card, but I was hoping you could tell me how you dealt with the problem, since your post was made about a year ago I thought you might be able to help.
They said they were calling to verify an order placed with a credit card and they were the "order confirmation department". Called me on my cell. Sounds like a fishing scam. Do not talk to them and do not confirm any info about yourself, your number or credit cards. I told them I was reporting them for investigation. I don't think any legitimate company would do this. Run!
These people just called me. They were trying to send me gas cards. When I asked them how they got my address they said in order to protect my privacy they couldn't tell me. I said how are you protecting my privacy when you took my info with out my okay. Then I cursed a little bit and the lady said how can i talk to her like that and she hung up on me.
they called me twice tonight.. the second time i let them explain a bit farther.. first of all they have my name.. they say they are giving me 150 in rewards for using my card ending in XXXX just for free . then they will send me more "reward" coupons if i will pay the $2.50 in postage.. now of course how would i pay for that.. umm.. yeah .. my credit card ending in XXXX. and oh... can we have your address to mail these coupons you are paying for postage on... so if you do this.. they have your name (confirmed i might add by you) your credit card info and your card address.. that folks is all they need to blow you out of the water!!!! please please do not give ANYONE that info!
