I received several calls from this number. I live in the Houston area. I have been involved in the Amber Alert, and the person whom called me said that they were taking donations to support Ambert Alert, I explained my work with Amber Alert. He hung up.
I got a cal and missed it. I tried to return the message since I received no message. It sounded like it was picked up and hung up but never rand or disconnected....I just hung up....
I get called from the same number or blocked and they say the exact same thing. They tell me I've donated last year. One time they represent missing children, one time its border patrol, one time its police something?. Now they call me every other day. I really sounds like the same people. Super annoying and now they are getting more aggressive, cutting me off when I try and talk...then when I couldn't even give the smallest amount of $50 he just hung up on me.
So how do we get these people to stop calling? I have received daily calls for MONTHS! I just called the "TEXAS STATE LODGE FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE" (800) 386-5148 and asked to be put on the do not call list for fundraising. Hope it helps!
Definitly think this is credit card scam. I was adamant that I would not give my cc info over the phone to someone who called me but would be happy to donate if they could send me some sort of pledge package or direct me to a secure website. He hung up. Hmmm. Any ideas who we can report this to?
Also receiving daily calls, except when I answer I hear their phone ring and then disconnect. If it is the sherriff's or fraternal order, I have asked several times in the past to be put on their DNC list but to no avail. (Regarding whether you donated, donating to ONE of these organizations seems to put you on the list for all of them... got calls for everything from local police to border patrol)
