Just received a call from 289-512-0307. Unfortunately I wasn't home. It was so garbled at the beginning I only got "CRA Revenue Canada", then he continued on with the spiel and yes it was a heavy accent. Unbelievable these idiots are so bold. It only bothered me because it upset my 74 year old mom. I told her not to worry, it was just another con by useless individuals with nothing to contribute to society. I never respond the first time to anything anyway. Apparently these [***] get belligerent too. If someone is contacting my home and interrupting whatever I'm doing, they better be polite!! .
He left a message on my answering machine today too.....clearly a scam, didn't even give the name of the person whose tax return he was referring to! Strong Indian acccent, had to listen 3 times to get the gist. Referred to CRA incorrectly as Revenue Canada at one point. Said we were being accused of tax fraud after an audit.
I too received a call from an 'Officer Robert Smith(?)' that was difficult to understand. He mentioned that he was from the CRA and that there was a legal case pending. The number to call back was 289-512-0307.
