Just received a call from 289-512-0307. Unfortunately I wasn't home. It was so garbled at the beginning I only got "CRA Revenue Canada", then he continued on with the spiel and yes it was a heavy accent. Unbelievable these idiots are so bold. It only bothered me because it upset my 74 year old mom. I told her not to worry, it was just another con by useless individuals with nothing to contribute to society. I never respond the first time to anything anyway. Apparently these [***] get belligerent too. If someone is contacting my home and interrupting whatever I'm doing, they better be polite!! .
A man named Robert Smith called and wanted to speak to my husband. Said he was from the CRA and it was very important that he call back. He had a very strong accent and was difficult to understand. When I asked what it was about, he said an on going criminal investigation. We didn't call back!
Message from Investigation Department Revenue Canada...that's all I could make out...Message was garbled and sounded like a "call centre" so I didn't call back - sure sign it's not legitimate or telemarketers.
Got a message left for me today when I got home. I must say I was shaking! googled this number an now I'm ticked off. Will report it to the police as well. What a jerk! Thanks to all that have told their stories on here, I can sleep tonight!
Some guy called claiming I was behind on my taxes. The person called from a blocked number and left the number to call back. I called back and he couldn't answer any of my questions. I told him I was calling the CRA to verify and then would call him back. He then hung up on me. I called the CRA and they said everything was fine and it was a scam. An hour later the same guy called me back and asked who I was. I gave them a fake name and then they wanted my home number and I said I don't have one and then he hung up on me. I'm laughing out loud literally. The things people will do these days is pretty pathetic. One of the many reasons I don't want a home phone.
