Guy asked to speak with me, I said "can I help you?" Never say "Yes" These guys and others like this are recording your voice to have you say "Yes", and "Your Name" to gain access to your bank and credit cards when they hack you.
The man called, asked if this was me (by my first and last name), I responded affirmatively. He said "Hi, this is Brian." Just as I was asking "Brian who?", he hung up.
Foreign sounding man (mid eastern) asking for a co-worker. The call sounded shady as I answered, so I grilled him about who he was and what the call was regarding. He said his name was Matthew (riiiiight) calling from Dr. David's office and wanted to set up a meeting with him. I put "Matthew" on hold and called his phone number back, and big surprise, it is NOT a working number. So I picked him back up and said so and so was not interested. "Matthew" tried hard to speak over me telling me to listen, listen, listen, this is not a sales call. To which I replied, I don't have to listen and I am done. I hung up and have not heard from him again..............yet.
Got a call from a number that looked like my corporate headquarters (california). Asked me to confirm my first and last name. I didn't confirm , but asked who was calling instead. He said "citibank". I then asked what this was in reference to, and he hung up. Same Indian accent.
I googled the number and it *was* from my corporate headquarters. So I called the front desk there, and they shared that someone had moments before asked to be connected to me. They transferred the number, which made it appear as though it came from my own company. I asked reception to inquire as to what the number was that dialed them, and they had recorded the 301-258-8390 number.
The number, and this scammer, have been added to the do not call list for my company. Further, the front desk is beefing up their screening of inbound callers, and will be looking to make sure that when they do transfer calls that it doesn't appear to be coming from my own company.
Just got a call from 301-258-8390 on my office desk phone, I get a lot of calls as I am the main number for the building. Asked if they were speaking with me I said yes, then heard the click. Haven't see any weird charges yet but I'm watching for them now as they got me. Man did have an Indian accent.
