I've contacted Sprint. They said that it's a huge issue right now and they are getting lots of calls about it. They are in attempt to block the number to all sprint users.
It is a scam. Sprint has tried calling the number. Just hang in there. I think I've got the text 5 times now.
I just got a text from this number text, 9099, visa account frozen please call. 305-359-3609 this is a number in Marathon florida and it is a land line. I have not called, but am inquiring as to who to call to stop it. I get these everyday. I called my bank and they told me it was a scam maybe soebody hacked into Sprint....I don't know whas going on but all of a sudden i been getting calls from all kind of people even bill collectors and i have no outstanding bills

I called Sprint. They said it's a technicality they're currently aware of and are working on it.
I had all incoming texts blocked, but they explained the scammers found a way to send the message throught the 'internet'? and it bypasses their messaging filter systems. Then it comes through your cell phone as a text message.
The first representative that acknowledged the problem and gave an explaination, asked me to:
- log on to Sprint.com (your MySprint page),
- on the bottom right, go to the section for sending text messages.
- On the next page, there will be a link to 'block text messages'.
- Then choose the 'Block messages from all senders in my block list'
- Then add the code '6245' (NOT the phone number in the message) to the blocked list.
PROBLEM: The only option I had was a link to 'sign in', which signed me back out.
I called back Sprint, they even tried to turn my incoming messages back on and still could not get the block #'s list to come up.
So, I opted to have them re-block all incoming messages until they resolve the hack issue, as to not get any spam texts at .20 cents each.
They said they would waive any text fees (including this one) for each of these that come in. I'll probably have to report each one !?!
Anyways, if it was a choice between:
- turning on texts to be able to use a 'blocked number' list
- or -
- block all incoming texts,
I'd prefer to deal with these 'internet' texts until they get the problem fixed. I had recently been lured into (fortunatley) a legitemate survey that I've been cleaning up since, so I don't need any more ways marketers or scammers to dial me up, than neccessary.
For what its worth, 411.com shows this number coming from a land line somewhere in the Florida Keys. Provider XO.

if you call that number if ask to enter a 16 digit card number. if you enter any number the message just loops..
