Got the same message. Havnt called sprint but from what i've been reading, it wouldnt do it any good. Im in the Florida Panhandle, curious as to where everyone else is.
I'm on the phone with someone higher on the food chain at Sprint. She tells me that 9099 is SPRINT'S code, and it's getting through blocks because text messages FROM SPRINT bypass blocks on text messaging. Somehow, this phishing scam managed to forge Sprint's ID to get this message through.
I'm still on hold with them, but it sounds like they are appropriately concerned about this hole in their security.
Received text message - "customer issue, visa service frozen. please call at 305-359-3609". Used reverse lookup on white pages.com - call originates from the Florida Keys. Not to be trusted!!!
