Thanks for the info guys. I normally do NOT answer calls like this. Put them in my address book as SC (DATE) so I know I have had that call before. But recently I had investigated information about a drug that I take that is expensive and I was checking to see if there was a program to get a better discount on it. I know that some drugs do have such programs. This may have been generated from my questions. So I will answer the next time they call.
My mother received a call from Social Service Coordinators, Inc and referred the information to my sister and I. I looked them up on the net, and at the Florida BBB as suggested by Scott (listed above on 19AUG08). They have a BBB rating of A+. I will double check with a local hospital,St. Mary's Hospital in Reno,NV, a hospital that SSC has worked with according to their site.
This company's Corporate Headquarters are in Milford, CT, Regional Offices in Phoenx, AZ and Philadelphia, PA and Operations Center in Miami FL.
Second Comment listed: After speaking to a spokesperson from both Social Service Coordinators and St Mary's Reg. Hosp. in Reno, NV, I have found out that SSC is contracted by several different insurance companies; Secure Horizons, Humana, Health First were three mentioned. In CA, SSC contracts with an insurance company, collects information from names off a general list, they than send it on to the Social Security office to be sure a person is low-income and qualifys.
They are offering to help my low-income mother get reimbursed her Part B premium of $96 and to help with her prescription costs.
At this time, I have not found anything to say they are not who they say they are. My advice to you.... contact your insurance carrier to see if they have contracted out to Social Service Coordinators, although you should not assume whover answers the phone knows the answer.
Be wary of the statement: "They're listed with the Better Business Bureau so they must be real." Anyone can claim to be a company and PAY the BBB their fee in order to be listed.
I saw an ad on tv about this company to help you get your disability and i called the number They are now helping me to apply for my disability. If anyone knows something about this company that i should know about, please let me know. So far thye seem to be legite
