Thanks for the info guys. I normally do NOT answer calls like this. Put them in my address book as SC (DATE) so I know I have had that call before. But recently I had investigated information about a drug that I take that is expensive and I was checking to see if there was a program to get a better discount on it. I know that some drugs do have such programs. This may have been generated from my questions. So I will answer the next time they call.
Have been getting calls from these people for a month or more, keep telling te peerson to take us off their list as we are not income eligable. They keep calling. Today I called the number it came from (Says Social Services). I told them to please remove our phone number, the guy was nice and said he had removed us, we will see.
Company IS NOT a scam. They are registered with the Better Business Bureau as well.
They are contracted to work on behalf of senior's insurance companies (like United, Humana, Blue Cross, Secure Horizons etc) to assist low income medicare recipients to enroll in the state and federal programs.
Feel free to contact your Medicare Advantage / Health Insurance company and ask them who SSC or Social Service Coordinators are. If a regular agent at the insurance does not know, ask for a supervisor.
The insurance companies have contracted out to SSC to assist seniors with the enrollment process to get the 96.40 back. Also they have a department called Golden Touch that also assist members with getting discounts on energy bills, phone bills, lights bills etc.
I was able to get my parents assistance through them and their state even paid retro monies back. It is a legit company.
The information of Social Security#, Address, etc is provided to them from the insurance company. They have to verify for accuracy purposes as they assist with completing the application.
I was skeptical at first but did my research and found out they are legit. Here is a link to the BB as well as their company website

I suggest that since you all obviously have internet access, Google social service coordinators before jumping to any conclusions. It would be very ignorant of you to assume this is a scam without doing your research. You'll find that the only thing they're doing is truly helping people.
Every should be cautious but PLEASE do the research before just assuming this is a scam. My company contract with SSC to find members who are dual eligible, it is a win/win for the members and our organization.
