That depends on your carrier, and how they deliver caller ID. I use a VOIP service through Charter Communications, and most of the calls display as "1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx", even within my area code, which is 805.
This caller, CALIFORNIA called us today, 11:39, (12.03.2015. It called us 12 times since June, 2015 so far. When I returned the call hiding our number, a lady message indicated this number is not in service. I blocked its other number 626-132-6658. According http:800notes.com this number has called many people.
It called us on11.27, 11.30, 12.01, 12.02 .2015 without area code, so I reported to www.donotcall.gov , www.fcc.gov/complaints as (805)132-6658, might be it used 805-132.6658 ?

I don't know wy]hy FTC& FCC have not stop this caller.
