This number showed up as HEARST INC The woman asked for me by first name. I said who is speaking? She said a Pblishing Company. And then I said which one? She hung up and I did a reverse phone look up, Thank you Spokeo!
This number showed on my screen. I couldn't get to it but called it back within seconds....BUSY! Called back about 10 more times randomly throughout the day....BUSY!
Caller ID says "Hearst Inc" but as above the caller said Publisher House and that my name had been entered into a contest by my bank or credit card company. She stated my address and said she was verifying it to send me six free magazine subscriptions - when I said "that's okay, I don't want..." she hung up mid-sentence. When I tried to call back to ask them to remove me from their calling list the line was repeatedly busy.
Call came in just a minute ago. Lady said she was with "Publisher's Headquarters". She said my credit card or bank had entered my name for being a preferred customer. I was a finalist and had a chance to win a vacation to Australia, Chevy SUV, cash, etc. She wanted to confirm my name and address (which she knew) and asked my age and what I did for a living. She said I would be getting 2 years worth of free magazines and then offered to send me a free diamond watch (wow!). When I asked, "you're going to send me this free stuff and not want anything for it?" she let me know that I would need to pay for one magazine to get the 6 free. When I declined she hung up. I will try calling back to hassle them later.
I have received a couple calls from this number but have not answered because I didnt recognize it. A call back to them got only a busy signal. Annoying. Anyone know how to get them to quit calling?
