Yes... me too. IRS stated... funny thing is... I'm waiting on a huge refund from the IRS... ain't no way I owe the IRS.... they over taxed and I have a letter stating they are processing my refund. Real scam... recorded haltering speech message. The IRS will write you ... registered letter... the end.
this happened to me this morning!!! the guy, who said his name was steve martin, who had a middle eastern accent stated that I was in trouble for tax fraud and that I owe 2998.53 in back taxes. I asked for proof, and he said "its an active investigation, we tried to mail you two letters and you did not respond to them". Athough it freaked me the hell out when it happened, I know that its definitely a scam. he didnt ask for money, which is where I was afraid it was real...
soooo i couldnt let it go, Im far too paranoid for this scamming crap, and I called an attorney to find out ways to weed through a scammer. The tax attorney said that the IRS will send A TON of mail, and that they do not involve police (like the guy who was scamming me said). The attorney also told me that they wont ask for the money until they have you on a hook, and youre truly terrified.
Got this on another phone from current calls. Then they harassed constantly.. When I called them back the man, with an Indian accent, made claims of a large IRS ijudgement demanded money immediately or said the sheriff would be there to arrest me. I demanded written proof and he refused saying they don't have to provide that. He again said I would be arrested. I tild him I would go to the IRS and told him to go ahead and call the sheriff. That is when the calls stopped. Now I am getting them again on my cell phone. Frustrating.
