After getting all of their info about their illegal operation, I turned them in to DoNotCall.gov and the California State License Board for violating contractor sales protocol.
WHEN the FTC can catch these people they levy SERIOUS fines... $10,000.00 +++ per violation.
Most of the contractors are just lead farms and have very little scruples and a great desire to not get fined/ caught.
For the contractor telemarketers, I tell them I want to do their dream job... the minimally skiled telemarketer falls for it every time. They then schedule an appointment.
The telemarketing company then calls back to confirm your appointment. Lately, they've been calling from masked caller ID numbers, so tell them that you are busy and need to call them back, so what's the best number?
If you call that number back and they don't answer it is a scam.
If you want to get them to hang up at the beginning of the call, ask them for a contractors license number up front. This won't get them to remove your number. You actually have to waste a bunch of their time and make it clear that you know a lot about them that you are reporting to the FTC for them to actually stop calling you.... and even then, some of them don't learn. $$$$ expensive lessons I teach.
A Plus California Builders: most unprofessional, annoying pest. Call everyday EVEN on Sunday Labor Day weekend. She Refusee to identify herself, combative on phone, then hangs up when they done get what they want. Continue to report them to the FTC; they will catch up with them. I also check on the Calif State Licensed Board; nothing under that name..go figure.
