>> It would seem that there would be away to stop these as swipes from calling.why can't this site give us this information . <<
Um.
One tip was given you in the post made just before yours.
Other tips can be found throughout this site, if you care to look.
Are you aware of call blocker technology?
Have you googled/searched for "Call Blocker?
Call blockers are available as phones, apps (some free) and standalone devices.
Remember,
The Do Not Call List is NOT a call blocker!
Here is 800notes' discussion on call blockers:

Here are two pages of links to (mostly government) sites in Canada and the USA were you can report phone scams, or learn more about them.
First, look elsewhere on this site for an Article, entitled "Where to Report Phone Crime". (It may appear in the column to your right).
For a more frequently updated list of complaint sites, with links to government web pages, look here:

I like to call back and just mess with them. It's fun! Please send the Feds to my house to collect nothing I owe. Ask these idiots to fax something to you. They can't do that either! At least if your going to try to scam someone get a cheap fax machine. Make it look sort of real. Idiots.
Calling from US Treasury... federal offense, judgement, etc. I have had this call before from different phone #. This guy had an accent. I hung up after the first few words..
Received several calls from this number. A man named Steve claimed it was the IRS and my husband and I were going to be arrested. Call immediately or face fines and imprisonment. The man had such a heavy accent that I had to listen twice to the message.
Trouble with calling them back, is that they have your phone # on record to either say they have a business "relationship" to call you and/or they just sell your number to other telemarketers. It's a no-win situation... Would be nice if the "do not call" list would work, however, often these people "spoof" the phone #'s on the caller ID.
