This is a legit call/phone # -- it is from the social security office. They called me and I did not answer it. They followed up with an email and then I called them after I got the email.
got at call this am 3-22-10 and there was no message. called back the number and it was the social security office in chicago except that a real government office wouldh ave voice mail, numbers to dial etc. also chicago Social Security uses these numbers:

I got a call stating it was from Social Security. The lady said I had been paid benefits incorrectly and she wanted a printout of all the funds I received from Social Security from my retirement date of December 1995 to the present.
I don't think Social Security makes telephone calls but don't know for certain.
If this is a legitimate Social Security number for an office in Chicago, why does it show as a private unlisted number for a person with relatives. Apparently the party trying to scam using this number is submitting false information to these websites. Do not believe it.
My wife answered and they asked to talk to me. I was asleep and she said that she started talking to the guy about processes and procedures of filing a claim. The guy was stuttering and said he didn't know????? What the heck is that? He supposedly works for Social Security (which is what came up on caller ID, so wife didn't know), and left a phone number. That is how I got to this website. I tried calling the phone number and it was a generic automated system....only asking for information and said it was an office in Chicago. So, I left the info..... They asked what my claim # was....so I said "B-U-L-L-S-H-I-T...then they asked my name and I said 'Scam Artist'......then they asked something else and I said 'You are a SCAM ARTIST' and then hung up..... it was basically a messaging system that did not wait for me to finish what I was saying...before going on to the next question, which tells me that it's someones answering machine...with pauses......just to get information. VERY GENERIC!!!!! LOLOL
