Telemarketer, but if you call back and press 1, they put you on the do not call list. Very kind of them to make that easy. Guess I need to re-up my registration on the federal list
Word! Just got a call from this number today as well. Thought it might have been someone from 8 Mile the movie, trying to get me to join allies against the Free World. Didn't call back though.
There was an empty message in my voice mail from this number. Didn't recognize the number so I didnt call back. Glad I didn't, from the comments it seems they are scammers
They called my office phone, caller ID showed only the phone number both as the name and as the number. I ignored it; moments later I had voice mail. The "message" consisted of only an electronic blurp.
Regarding the proposed Carmax theory: I have not bought any cars from Carmax, and the only time I ever went there was to help my mother sell her car when she became too old to drive about 10 years ago. I think we gave them her contact info rather than mine, so I don't think that transaction has anything to do with the call I received.
