Definitely a bad player. This number called my cell. When called back I received a recording asking for date of birth, social security number and full name under the guise of the "opt out" program. I hadn't called the "do not call" number for over a year. Very slick recorded voice but I believe it's a more sophisticated version of Phishing.
Amazing! There are so many complaints here just withing the last 12 hours! I didn't answer. I never do anymore. Though I am on the DoNotCall list, and I had opted out of credit advertisers some years ago, I still get the periodic annoyance. If what everyone saying is true about the SS#, this is some dirty crap. I'll just have to add them to my ever growing list of blocked numbers. I really hate phones. I would never have one if it weren't needed for work.
When this call came through, the caller ID showed up, trying to rely on my memory 2 hours later, as something like terrorist announcement or report. We thought it was an announcement coming through so answered it. It wasn't, it was a telemarketer, they are sneaky s.o.b.'s. So I was just now able to do a search on the number and found this page. And also on the phone when I went in to retrieve the number then name is "Derrick Companies". Interesting how it shows up as one name when the phone rings, and another in the listing when I go back and check.
BTW, a month ago I put on my out going message something similar to -- any telemarketer calling will be reported to the FTC and FCC immediately. Please stop calling this number. If you are important please leave a message... Within 2 weeks they stopped. This is the first one we got. And darn it, we answered it... Oh well. They will get the message next time they call.
I also got a call on my cell and it is on the do not call list - ever since I put my number on there have been getting strange calls - even at 4AM in the morning!!
I just block them - easy enough. For those of you who press 1, you are just confirming that your number is real so that you can then be added onto future lists, same as they do for email junk.
Received call to cell phone this afternoon. Robo caller stated that I would be entitled to monetary compensation if a Yaz user. I am not. Pressed number to remove future calls, but doubt that will work. Was automatic and no human asked for my SSN. I will block this number and anything from 313 area code in future. I am on do not call list and call was to my cell phone. So I paid for these losers calls. What a country.
