Received this call today with a man with very broken English. Asked how are you today and I asked him to repeat it as I had trouble understanding him and replied fine and then he said something about calling from the US Dept of something and then I called to wish you either a very glad or very bad day and then it went dead. I called back with number as Tay from Tully NY and some acting co. and a woman answered and I said I was returning a call and she said she was calling from the government and I had been given a grant. I said this is a scam as the government doesn't give grant to those who don't apply and I was going to report them and she hung up.
I received a call from this number. It was a female claiming she was calling from the US government advising I am entitled to receive money. I knew it was a scam because I have not requested anything from the US Government. She did not speak very good English, she acted as if she really didn't know what to do or say. I hung up on her. Spoofing/Masking Caller ID information is a result of calls now being placed over the internet. Calls like this would be greatly reduced if calls from outside the US are not allowed in from the Internet. Worst Technology move ever allowing voice traffic to travel over the internet.
I received the same call, I am assuming with the same female, sounded Asian, broken english. Same scam. I asked who she was and for her name and she hung up on me.
yep we got the same thing today stating that the US is offering us a grant. My husband said this is a scam to her a foreign woman- could not even understand her-
