preferred credit is a company out of st cloud mn. the do financing for direct home sales, IE kirby vacuum, tri star vacuum, rainbow vacuum, saladmaster cookware, and classica cookware. if your getting a call from this number it is a collector trying to get ahold of you due to your bill being late.
this is correct. Preferred Credit is a legitimite company. If you do not have a loan through them, someone who does gave them your current phone number in the past when signing for a loan.
I spoke with a woman that was very nice and they should work with you if you explain that the person they are looking for must have changed numbers. REmember, collection agencies probably hear that all the time and will call a few times to verify that someone isn't just trying to get rid of them and get out of paying a debt.

the financing company that helped us buy our Kirby...we have run into a rough spot and havent paid this month. we are thrirty days past due, they call at least 20 timess a day. When I did answer the phone to explain the temporary shortage of cash...the rep started yelling at me calling me lazy, telling me to get a job....she doenst even know the situation, I am a stay at home mom of two with a newborn...any way, I wouldnt suggest talking to them, they are big bad bullies!
I keep getting calls from this company as well. I know it is Preferred Credit, the only problem is, I don't have an account through them, and never have. When they call and my voicemail picks up, they don't leave messagse. When they call and I pick up, I don't even get a person, I get about 5 seconds of dead air and then a click and the call is ended. I have called the number back repeatedly and each time the associate assures me they don't have my number on file anywhere and they can't find any record of the calls. Then how the hell did I get their number in the first place?
AN interesting note is that Preferred Credit is not a collections agency, but a lending company. They do not fall in the same category, nor under some of the rules and regulation of a, "collection agency," i.e. third party collections.
Collection agencies buy bad debt at varying cents to the dollar. Preferred credit is a lending company. Some of the rules are different in this situation.
