Same as above - career stated they were from Windows and had received error report from my computer about malware...he was foreign and said his name was Steve...when asked for a number for me to call back he gave me 321-396-5210....I told him I do not do these things over the phone and he said that's was why he gave me his number so I could call back and see he was "real"...he stated that if I signed on to computer he could tell me my computer number..can't remember what he called it! Definite scam!!
Darn, you guys ran them off before I could ask them for some tech support help.
Now I will never know how to divide by zero on this lousy de-computer.
Oh well, now back to /format:c
Total scam -- changed my accent to match the callers. Reported to Microsoft, BBB and Illinois investigators since appear to be operating with an Illinois area code. New laws are allowing interstate prosecution where the victims can reep huge payouts in a future class action for all damages.
Got the same call saying it was from MicroSoft with error warnings. I asked where he was calling from. He said Florida. Not, East Indian accent. As in other responses, he said he had the number to my computer and simeone was trying to gain access to my email. When asked for the computer number he had he said I had to log on to the computer before he could give the number. I have had another recent scam and knew right away this to be fraudulent. I told him it was a scam and wished him many hung up calls in his future.
My husband received a call from a man with an East Indian accent saying he was from Microsoft and that our computers using microsoft were being hacked. Thankfully, because he was a bit wary, my husband told the man that he would have to call him back. The man gave him the 321-396-5210 as the number of customer service and support for Microsoft. Needless to say that is NOT a Microsoft number. I checked our incoming call log and the number the man had called from was listed as: Out of Area 019. I don't know whether you can trace this call but hopefully these phishers can be stopped.
