I got a call from Annie Johnson stating the same thing on 3-19-15.  I called them back today and asked for there and ID number.  The guy told me '[***] YOU [***]'  I told him that the IRS would NEVER say that to anyone.  I can't say what else I told her but he got the message that if he saw me in person it would not be pleasant for him.

I have lived in France and filed US taxes for 30 years. Today my 93-year-old mother in Washington got a phone call claiming to be from the Legal Affairs of the US Treasury, she gave me a telephone number —323 238-3868—to call. I in turn telephoned and a woman with an accent warned me that on charges of tax evasion they were issuing a warrant for my arrest and threatening to revoke my US passport. I called them back as they requested and twice was told to call back later. After a very stressful hour I began checking out scams on the Internet and found that this number corresponded to a number used in a series of similar contacts. When I called a third time and requested their name, they hung up. Case closed. Tried reporting it to the IRS hotline but there's a backlog. Apparently our scammers are busy little bees. Will spread the word far and wide...

Keeps calling several times, leaves no message, hangs up and apparently immediately tries again and again.  Very strange.

This time the caller said his name was nelson carter. He had a middle eastern accent and younger than the last caller. He said there was a law enforcement action against me because I owed federal taxes. I told him he was a scam and he called me a stupid [***] and hung up. Guess at that point he knew the gig was up.
