I had the same message today, and said his name was James Howard (maybe his brother lol) anyway, he said I was going to be arrested today. I told him the call was being traced and he will be arrested soon hahaha...Bunch of scum.
Received same message on my answering machine today (verbatim!) but identified himself as Vince Howard (I think), It sounded so terrible. I could barely hear the message. I knew it had to be a scam because he pronounced my name correctly! No one has been able to do that before. LOL.
Received a call from a woman saying I owed back taxes and should have received a notice in the mail. She said I should call 323-238-3879 (the same number she was calling from) and told me to speak with Ethan Smith. She gave me CP503 as a reference number. I hung up and looked up the number and saw the above messages and wanted to reiterate the obvious. The funny phone connection and deep accent was a dead giveaway.
Received a call from 323-238-3879 from a person with a heavy foreign accent stating he was from the Department of Legal Affairs. He stated there was legal action with me and the Department of the Treasury and that I should call the number immediately to talk to his supervisor. He had my correct name and address. I asked him to send me the written complaint and he said that I should call as it would be better and faster. Obviously it is a scam, probably from some overseas outfit rolling the calls over to a U.S. phone number. Avoid this fool or u be the fool.
I received this exact same message from Nelson Carter. Only problem is the IRS doesn't make initial contact via phone it is always though the mail. Besides, how would Nelson Carter and his band of idiots know if I had tax issues before the IRS contacted me? For the record, I have no tax issues, same as 99% of the people who get this call.
