Answered and talked to a representative of "Credit Services" named "Jeff Williams" They Claimed to be in Atlanta, GA. I asked him for the company's website address, and he told me h didn't know what it was, and that I would get that from the program qualification representative, after I answered his questions. I asked if they were a debt management service, and they said "essentially, but you make the payments yourself". They said they made their money from the interest savings they would arrange, but were not clear how exactly this would work. They first asked for my credit card # and I said" you're not going to ask for the authorization code, are you?" and he said no and I won't ask for the expiration date either. He did then ask me for the last 4 digits of my SS#, which I refused to give him. He said there was some legitimate reason why he needed this, but he supposed he could do without it. I told him yes let's see if we can do without giving you that. He called the phone number for customer service and told me my balances, and then said the card was too close to the credit limit to qualify for the 1st program, but that he would transfer me to my program qualification representative to see about my American Express card. I informed him that there wasn't much of a credit available balance on that one either. He then said he was transferring me, though it was him again that came on the line after a minute or so, and he told me he would have someone call me back, since there was such a backup on the calls waiting. I then called the card company to cancel the card and get a different one. They said there was no legitimate representative of some company other than their own which could offer me a lower interest rate. It's been about 10-20 minutes now since he said I would get a call back, and I haven't heard from him since. I also called the 323 number, which is a Hollywood, CA # and is a secondary service provided to companies seeking to comply with some kind of regulation regarding telemarketing.
I called this number back today after another phone call. I got an automated system telling me that they received my number due to filling something out online which gave them permission to call. They are a phone number for several different companies and offers. You can go through their automated system to have your phone number removed from the company responsible for that particular phone call. However, if another company that works in conjunction with them wants to call your number, they are not blocked by doing so. Well, at least I got rid of one.
They call my work all the time, you ask company name "Credit Services" what is your call back number, Pause. . . . Hang up!!
Hah what a joke, I feel bad for those that get sucked into a scam as this because they will fall into so much debt and problems they will never be able to get credit. And in today's economy people are suckers to this. Why doesn't the government or other organizations look into these people, they change their company each month one day will be auto warranty to credit services. I just don't get it?
