I received a robo call from someone stating they were Agent Nikki Johnson from the IRS and to call this number. Of course it was a SCAM. The guy who answered said his name was Mark Cooper. When I asked him where he was calling from he said Los Angeles Ca. When I asked him his address, he asked me if I wanted to come to Los Angeles Ca. I said yes where is his address, he said Thank you and hung up.
The only recommendation I have is to remember the time differences and always call them back between their hours of midnight and 6am. Serves them right!
Received a robotic call at 11:06 AM EDT, stating they were from the IRS, I tried to reply but the caller did not respond. I called back the number and a male with a heavy Indian accent answered and told me his name was Michael Somes (sp?). I asked if he was with the IRS and he confirmed that he was. Then he asked me for the phone number that received the automated call, I gave it to him. He then asked to speak with someone named Betty so-and-so, who I believed owned my phone number before me. I told him she was unknown to me and I asked a few more questions which he refused to answer stating that I didn't need to know since I was not the party they were looking for. I just asked for more specific details as to which IRS office he was calling from, but he did not want to give me any more information and seemed a bit put off that I asked.

Did a quick search of California IRS offices and did not find the 323 phone number on it. Here is the IRS link: http://www.irs.gov/uac/Contact-My-Local-Office-in-California.
Tried calling the IRS hotline (800) 829-1040, but after getting transferred, had up to a 30-minute wait for a representative, and don't have that kind of time to kill!
