This person is running a ring around the country of these scams. I was just forewarned about it on one of my own properties that is under contract in Arizona. It is always best to contact a Realtor when renting/purchasing a home. There are so many scams around Craigslist and many other websites and I unfortunately hear about people getting taken advantage of regularly by the crooks.

Here is a sample of the letter they sent me:

Just to let you know before we move further, I am a stammerer, i dont like making a call i prefer email or texting and presently, I am already in Azusa CA. I decided to rent it out because we are going to spend more time here in Azusa CA, about 3 years due to my job as a contractor. You can drive through the house anytime of the day if you wish to see the house for yourself. if you like it, you can let me know so that I can make arrangement to send the keys and paper work to you through FedEx.. We need a responsible person (With good credit) that can take very good care of it as we are not after the money.
THE HOUSE IS STILL AVAILABLE to move in as soon as possible. The address of my house is 25 Ashley St Cranston, RI 02920 with Square feet.... 960sqft ......It cost $750 for monthly rent and $550 for the security deposit.
My initial plan was to sell out the house, but my last agent was not honest with me, he cheated the tenant by getting higher rent from them and never deliver the money to me. I don't have anything to do with the Realtor again because I already collected the keys from him, as soon as I get a tenant the sign sale will be removed from the house so that people will stop contacting the number on the sign board.. We need a responsible person (With good credit) that can take very good care of it as we are not after the money. I am not dealing with the Agents any more they are Bad people. This is why I am handling the Rent by myself. You deal with me Direct. You do not need to contact any Agent when you get by the house cos if you do they will tell you sort of rubbish.
Utilities include: power, water, washer/dryer, sewer and trash.. Your monthly rent already covers utilities so you do not have to pay extra charges for that. Pet are allowed as long as they are not destructive.

A lady name Donahue Anitra calls me from this number to move into a house at 4526 N Vernon ave everything they are sayin she would say she said and she also will not accept any checks that's what made more into this.because now she is not.answering my phone calls or texts she is a scam artists and she called my phone everyday ASKIN when I was goin to send her the money I sent her 200 and the rest with a check that she will not.take
Here is what she posted to us and we fell for it because everything checked out! When I went over to the house, and the real owner showed up, I questioned her and she said that since I didn't trust her, she would refund out $500 deposit. Now the number goes right to voicemail and she won't return any phone calls.

I am presently in California, I would have loved to come and show you the house myself but work didn't permit me on that and also my family are here with me. Am a contractor and am on contract bases. I will be spending 2 - 3 years here in Contract. I have nothing to do with realtor because his not honest with me.

THESE PEOPLE ARE PULLING SCAMS ALL OVER THE STATES. WE TRIED TO REPORT IT TO THE POLICE BUT THEY WOULDN"T DO ANYTHING! SO IF YOU READ ANYTHING OVER CRAIGSLIST THAT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE, BELIEVE ME IT IS! THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE STOPPED!
