This person is running a ring around the country of these scams. I was just forewarned about it on one of my own properties that is under contract in Arizona. It is always best to contact a Realtor when renting/purchasing a home. There are so many scams around Craigslist and many other websites and I unfortunately hear about people getting taken advantage of regularly by the crooks.
I expressed interest in the location below and this is what I received via email in response and he sent me text messages as well. How can this guy be caught?

THE HOUSE IS AVAILABLE TO MOVE IN ASAP. I am presently in California, I would have loved to come and show you the house myself but work didn't permit me on that, i got a new job over here, am here with my family and I will be spending 2 - 3 years here. Am a contractor and am on contract bases.
I have nothing to do with realtor because his not an honest with me. You can drive through the house anytime of the day if you wish to see the house for yourself and peek through the WINDOW.. I advice you to act fast because of other people. if you like it, you can let me know so that I can make arrangement to send the keys and paper work to you through FedEx
Please note that my initial plan was to sell out the house, but my last Realtor was not honest with me, he cheated the tenant by getting higher rent from them and never delivered the money to me. In this case my Lawyer gave me an advise to rent the house instead of sell in it. As soon as I get a tenant the sign sale will be removed from the house. I have already collected my key from him.
The address of my house is 3365 Continental Dr Kenner, LA 70065, 4 bed, 2 full bath , 1,473 sqft Single-Family Home......It cost $1000 for monthly rent and $500 for the security deposit.
UTILITIES ARE INCLUDED: Power, Water, Dishwasher, Dryer, Garbage disposal, Microwave, Range / Oven, Refrigerator, Washer dryer, sewer and trash.. Your monthly rent already covers utilities so you do not have to pay extra charges for that. PETS ARE ALSO ALLOWED AS LONG AS THEY ARE NOT DESTRUCTIVE..
NOTE: No payment will be collecting from you until we both sign a paper work.

Hello, how are you doing today? The house is available to move in ASAP. Am giving the remaining of February for free and your monthly rent we start counting March 1st. Also i have some people who has gone to check the house and some really like it and they are ready to proceed but they are student and i don't like renting my house to student because they don't pay on time. It cost 800 per month and 700 for security deposit. Total $1500 for moving in. Well if you are really interested in this beautiful house with nice neighborhood you can get back to me so i can give you lease contract to fill.
I will Gladly appreciate if you go by the house and Peek through the window to have a better View of the inside of the House.. I am so glad I looked up the name this person gave me. The name given is a man that passed away so I looked further and did a reverse phone number search and see this person getting away with this. The place in question here where I live, has a for sale sign up. I think I will call the number on the sign and see what they know about this alleged scam artist. I think the thing that caught me was in the email where he stated he could not bring me the key since he was out of the state. He said I could go peek in the windows. Seriously?

we lost $991. we thought a great deal then after i sent the money he quit contacting me i called the police and they said to file a report in the state i live in and they will send the reports to they two states that the house was in and where i sent the money he /she wants you to send it through walmart. i asked if there was a bank account i could transfer the money to and he said no. and that he would have his assistant by the name of philips terrell pick it up. and he also gave a fake address.
