I got a similar message from a Rachel Smith with a strong accent from the "Department of Legal Affairs". The phone # was different (408) 543-9125. Knowing this was probably a scam, I still tried the # and just got a disconnected # message. Same sort of story though - I was in big trouble about something and I should retain a lawyer. Wouldn't specify what I was in "trouble" for and no valid #. Frustrating we cant catch more of these scammers!

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.
Foreign accent, person identified themselves as 'John Darcy' from 'The Dept of Legal Affairs' but doesn't mention what body that is a department of. Threatened 'legal mess', used my son's name. Said he or lawyer should call back. They called again and left same message twice - long message WORD-FOR-WORD. Obviously bogus.
Rachel Smith (heavy foreign accent) from "Department of Treasury Legal Affairs". Told me my daughter was in big trouble it was a problem with her taxes. When I asked why it wasn't the IRS calling she said they tried to get in contact with her and did not get a response so they turned it over to Treasury Department. When I laughed they hung up. I am posting to FTC.GOV today
Got a call from 323-786-0487. Left message saying his name was John Darcy (indian accent) from the Department of Legal Affairs. Threatening with immediate legal action against me if I don't return the call.
