I got a similar message from a Rachel Smith with a strong accent from the "Department of Legal Affairs". The phone # was different (408) 543-9125. Knowing this was probably a scam, I still tried the # and just got a disconnected # message. Same sort of story though - I was in big trouble about something and I should retain a lawyer. Wouldn't specify what I was in "trouble" for and no valid #. Frustrating we cant catch more of these scammers!
We received a voice mail message today from a Michael Clark stating he was with the Department of Legal Affairs. We had to listen to the message several times since the caller was extremely hard to understand. His message stated that it was imperative that we returned the call in regards to a legal proceeding. WE DID NOT and WILL NOT BE RETURNING THIS CALL! BEWARE
Got a call from 323-786-0487 officer rose from "Department of Treasury Legal Affairs". Threatened to issue warrant for my arrest within 2 hours for owed back taxes due to an error in my filing. I told her that I can guarantee there is no error and if there was that the tax filing company I use will be happy to fight the case. She then said she couldn't help me and will proceed with legal action and hung up.
Had a message on my machine today. John Darcy was the name. The quality of their recorded message was too poor to understand most of what was said. Caught the words debt, attorney, legal action, imperative, return call. I decided to google the number. Glad I did. Now I know I can ignore the message, and not drive myself nuts trying to figure out who I don't remember owing money to.

"This message is intended for Mark. Hi this is Marco with the Department office of legal affairs Val. I was trying to reach you in regards to a very important issue. This is a verbal notification for you in regards to an enforcement action that has been started on your name. My number is 323-786-0487. I repeat 323-786-0487. If for any reason you are busy to call back. I was suggest(?) you to have your reaching attorney to do it for you as today calling. Mike and up into(?) a legal matter for you. I hope you will take this ride and call me back. This is Marco with the Department of legal affairs.Looking forward to speak to you until then have a blessed day. Good luck.
Then, 2 hours later the number called 3 times in a row. I answered on the third time and said "is this the scam artist trying to feed me some line of BS about overdue taxes from 2007 or some other BS?" They hung up! (I had previously researched the number in this and other sites after the msg was left.
Got a call for my brother, whose away at school. Said he needs to contact him or legal representative. Wow. The acsent was foregin. "John Darcy" Affermative action against his name or retained attorney.
