I got a similar message from a Rachel Smith with a strong accent from the "Department of Legal Affairs". The phone # was different (408) 543-9125. Knowing this was probably a scam, I still tried the # and just got a disconnected # message. Same sort of story though - I was in big trouble about something and I should retain a lawyer. Wouldn't specify what I was in "trouble" for and no valid #. Frustrating we cant catch more of these scammers!

I had the same message, from a Rachel Smith "with the Dept. of Legal Affairs" (heavy Indian accent), also threatening some sort of legal action, "a suit," but I could not understand her message, save for something about a big legal mess if I didn't contact her. Though her accent was so difficult to decipher, I believe the number she asked me to call was (818) 945-4305...like an idiot, I did try to dial the number (hoping to find out what she was talking about, since I could not understand what she was saying), but the number was not a working number. Now I am worried that I even tried dialing the number. We have received calls from a bogus "Windows" company several times a day for over a year (which have now, mysteriously stopped)...the "Windows" people also had heavy Indian accents. Wonder if the calls are in some way related? Also did notice that the first note among these posts that also mentioned Rachel Smith was written by someone in Texas...in January of 2014, our credit card was hacked (first time this has happened to us)...when we received the notification call, the credit card company told us someone was buying suits at Brooks Brothers with my credit card. Now I just feel paranoid and bad, but perhaps there is a connection between me being on "Rachel's Calling List," along with people in Texas, rather than on the calling list of some of the other names of bogus callers listed in this post? For pity's sake! I also wonder, were all of us who received these calls receiving the calls on land lines, or on cell phones? My bogus calls come to my land line. I just wonder if it is time to not have a land line?
Got a call recently from this number. Caller said he was John Darcy in a heavy accent. He said he was from the department of legal affairs and there was a legal infraction against my husband. He ended the message with "have a blessed day and goodbye".
